Families choose our South Beloit location for its warm-water pool, small class experience, and convenient access for Stateline communities. It’s a popular option for families in both Illinois and Wisconsin who want survival-focused instruction without driving into a larger metro area, while still getting consistent coaching and a calm learning environment.
Yes. This Catch the Wave Swim Club location is independently owned and operated by a local team while following the BraveSwim™ curriculum, safety standards, and coaching systems used across all Catch the Wave locations.
The South Beloit location is where Catch the Wave Swim Club began. Long before there was a permanent facility, lessons were taught wherever there was water — hotel pools, backyard pools, and even a home pool with a built-in current. It was in that home pool, training against the current, that the name Catch the Wave was born. What started as a passion project quickly grew into something bigger. Families needed quality swim instruction. Kids needed confidence in the water. And the community needed a place that focused on teaching real skills, not just filling pools. In 2008, Catch the Wave found its first true home — an old dentist office that was transformed into something entirely new. The front of the building still reflects its original layout, while the pool was purpose-built and added onto the back. It wasn’t designed to look flashy. It was designed to work. That’s why when you walk into this facility, it may feel a little different — and that’s intentional. This location represents how Catch the Wave operates at its core: built from the ground up, driven by passion, and shaped by the needs of the community. South Beloit became the framework for every location that followed, proving that what matters most isn’t the building — it’s the instruction, the relationships, and the commitment to helping swimmers succeed.
To reinforce BraveSwim™ survival skills, we offer optional, age-appropriate Water Safety Challenges at no additional cost:
During these challenges, swimmers practice applying their survival skills fully clothed — entering the water and demonstrating age-appropriate safety responses in more realistic conditions.
Water Safety Challenges are offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Please check with your local Catch the Wave office for upcoming dates and availability.
