Yes. This Catch the Wave Swim Club location is independently owned and operated by a local team while following the BraveSwim™ curriculum, safety standards, and coaching systems used across all Catch the Wave locations.
The Oregon location began with a community pool and an existing swim program — but one that wasn’t producing the results families needed. At the time, swim lessons were offered through the local park district. While access to the pool was available, the program lacked a consistent curriculum, clear progression, and a survival-first focus. Participation existed, but confidence and measurable outcomes were limited. Recognizing that the current approach wasn’t working, the park district reached out to Catch the Wave to explore a better solution. The transition came naturally. The pool was already being managed by an experienced operator who had built a career overseeing swim facilities and who was actively running a successful Catch the Wave location nearby. With firsthand knowledge of the Catch the Wave curriculum and results, it was clear that improving the program — not the pool — was the key. The existing park district swim program was shut down, and Catch the Wave stepped in to fully operate swim instruction for the Oregon community. By implementing a survival-first curriculum, trained instructors, and consistent teaching standards, the program was completely reset. Swimmers gained confidence, families saw real progress, and the program continues to grow. Oregon reflects a pattern seen across Catch the Wave locations: it isn’t the pool that drives progress — it’s the instruction behind it.
To reinforce BraveSwim™ survival skills, we offer optional, age-appropriate Water Safety Challenges at no additional cost:
During these challenges, swimmers practice applying their survival skills fully clothed — entering the water and demonstrating age-appropriate safety responses in more realistic conditions.
Water Safety Challenges are offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Please check with your local Catch the Wave office for upcoming dates and availability.
